This mystery 6-string intrigues us even though we have only found one example to date of this unique Destroyer.

This violates our core philosophy: if there's only one of them, it's a garage special.

We've spoken with the owner who purchased the instrument used in the Pacific Northwest of the United States and we think he has something unique.

As can be seen from the images, it would be a DT-500 but for two glaring exceptions.

The obvious difference is that this guitar is black whereas the DT-500s only came with a Cherry Sunburst finish.

This, by itself, is not a show stopper. The instrument could have been refinished or it could have been part of a spot production run with an undocumented finish. Both are equally possible.

The fly in the ointment for us is that this guitar belongs to the Destroyer II line whereas the DT-500 belongs to the X-Series line.

Again, this could be the result of a refinish in which the luthier used the wrong headstock decal.

If anyone has any information regarding this mystery model, please contact us.

Thank you.
