Comments:

this model replaced the DT-555 beginning in 1986. The only differences we can identify are:

the color of the pickup coil caps changed from white to black^[2]
for 1986: an upgrade from the Pro Rock'r/Top-Lok II combination to the Edge/Top-Lok III
for 1987: addition of the Back-Stop tremolo spring system^[3]

[1]	the Serial Number Format for this model is myypppp where: m = month of manufacture (e.g.: A = Jan, B = Feb, ... , K = Nov, L = Dec) yy = last two digits of the year of manufacture (e.g.: 86 = 1986) pppp = the sequential production number for this individual guitar out of all Ibanez electric guitars manufactured during the specified month/year at a given factory Note: pppp is not the total number of guitars manufactured of this model.

[2]	the V-2s on the DG-555 had black coil caps with white mounting rings whereas the V-2s on the DT-555 had white coil caps with white mounting rings.

[3]	in the 1986 Ibanez Profile April Issue catalog, it states the tremolo is an Edge. In the 1986 Ibanez Profile Flex Appeal Issue catalog, it states the tremolo is the Sure Bet. The Sure Bet Tuning System™ (SBTS) was the marketing name for a bundling together of the Top-Lok III locking nut, Edge tremolo unit, and Back-Stop tremolo spring system. One catalog states the DG-555 has the Back-Stop tremolo spring system and the other doesn't mention it. We have seen images of a FEB 1986 DG-555 that appears to have never had a Back-Stop installed. We have also seen images of an AUG 1987 DG-555 that did have a Back-Stop installed. Based on what little evidence we have, it appears the Back-Stop tremolo spring system was either added to the DG-555 later in 1986 or added for the 1987 production runs. Your guess is as good as mine.
